Help › Connect Heart Rate Monitors

Properly wearing armband monitors

For the most accurate readings, wear armbands on the upper forearm, biceps, or triceps. They should be snug enough not to move but NOT so tight that they restrict circulation.

  • Look at the underside of the sensor to confirm that your armband monitor is turned on. You should see rapidly flashing lights.
  • If the sensor is not turned on, it needs to be charged.
  • When the armband first connects, it may display a random number for approximately 30 seconds. It will start changing once the heart rate is detected.
  • The sensor should be worn on the inside or outside of the forearm. If you find the sensor giving a low reading with arm exercises, try the outside or inside of the upper arm.
  • All armband heart rate monitors, regardless of brand, can struggle to display accurate numbers when performing exercises such as push-ups or using rowing machines.
